Our understanding of Christianity is typically based on a fixed notion of what’s true. While truth may be immutable, our appreciation of it evolves. God reveals totally, but people are only able to perceive gradually. Therefore we enjoy a history of discovery—which, in turn, opens onto a future of discovery about which we presently only dream.

  • FUTURE DREAMING is an invitation to explore our dreams as we contemplate the future of Christianity in the U.S. Faithful dreaming is a biblical principle. How do our forerunners in faith dream, and where do their dreams take them?
    • In light of such dreams: What message and values might we embrace as God’s people? Who will lead, and what form will leadership take?
    • As we pray, so we believe: What forms will our worship take? If the core of society is family life, what will “family” look like in the 21st Century? In the context of family and society, how will we live and love?
    • The Christian community is not isolated, but actively engages a global community. How do we communicate our Good News?
    • Finally, what’s the goal of our lives, what do we hope to pass on to the next generation?
